Grill ignites house fire in Stambaugh Township

STAMBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Iron County home caught fire over the weekend.  

State Police from the Iron Mountain Post responded Sunday around 1:20 p.m. to a blaze at 2903 M-189 in Stambaugh Township. 

Officials believe the cause of the fire was an outdoor grill.  The residents were not home at the time. 

Also responding to the scene were the Iron County Sheriff’s Department and the West Iron Fire Department.

A damage estimate has not yet been released. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
