U.P. returned to United States

www.whitehouse.gov

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP)--   The UP is back on the map.

MLive.com says a map that the White House put up on the Web showing which states were expanding Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act was showing an outline of Michigan that omitted the Upper Peninsula.

Michigan is among the states that are expanding Medicaid under the health care law.

Republican U.S. Rep Dan Benishek of Crystal Falls says that "considering that President Obama visited the UP" in recent years, it would make sense for him to include it on his website's map.

And somebody at the White House apparently got the message, because the map now includes both Michigan peninsulas.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
