More wolves taken in hunt

MARQUETTE, MI--   At least 20 wolves have been killed in the state’s first hunt.

The Department of Natural Resources says as of Sunday morning five animals were taken in far western Gogebic County; 12 were killed in the northwestern and central management unit; and three were taken in the eastern management unit.

The season ends on December 31 or until 43 animals are harvested, whichever comes first.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
