ST. IGNACE, MI-- The Michigan Department of Transportation has closed a portion of US-2 in Mackinac County.
Officials say the stretch from I-75 in St. Ignace to M-77 was closed around 10 a.m. Friday. The highway was experiencing high winds, heavy snow and whiteout conditions.
Road crews have been pulled off US-2 as visibility is very poor and they are unable to keep up with blowing snow.
Westbound traffic on US-2 is being detoured on I-75 to M-123 to M-28 to M-77. Eastbound traffic is being detoured along the same route in reverse.
Public Radio 90 will provide updates as they become available.
