MCSO tries out new pursuit vehicle

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is one of three law enforcement agencies around the country to get a new all-wheel drive pursuit patrol vehicle.

The 2014 Dodge Charger was provided by Chrysler in December of 2013 for a one- to two-year evaluation period.

In April Fox Negaunee delivered the vehicle, which was outfitted with radio, video, and computer equipment provided by Setina Corp.  Vehicle diagnostics and driving information will be sent to Chrysler through a wireless data logger installed in the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office paid $1 for the vehicle and $1 for all the equipment.   It’s the first all-wheel drive police pursuit-rated patrol sedan.

The vehicle is also being evaluated by the Michigan State Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
