U.P. departments get Firefighter Grants

ISHPEMING, MI--   Fire departments in Marquette and Menominee counties are getting federal assistance. 

Michigan Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow announced that the Ishpeming and Spalding Township Fire Departments are getting money through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  Ishpeming will receive $24,013, while Spalding Township is getting $65,283 to boost operations and safety.  

The money is obtained through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
