Ironwood firefighters get federal money

IRONWOOD, MI--   The city of Ironwood is getting federal funding for its fire department.

The $13,680 grant comes from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.  The competitive grants help fund professional training programs; update equipment and facilities; and provide new supplies to help first responders handle hazards effectively.

The Ironwood Fire Department will use the money to improve operations and safety.
