Negaunee fire kept away from ammunition in home

NEGAUNEE, MI--   Negaunee firefighters were able to keep a fire from spreading in a house containing a lot of ammunition.

The owner of a house at 817 Maas Street returned home Thursday to find smoke and flames coming from the building.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 45 minutes and kept it away from ammunition in the house.  The owner is a gunsmith.

The fire apparently started in the kitchen.  The owner was able to get his dog out of the residence.  Both he and the dog are in good condition.

Negaunee firefighters were assisted at the scene by Marquette County Rescue 131 and the Marquette Township Fire Department.
