Homeland Security grants money to Stephenson Fire Department

STEPHENSON, MI--   A Menominee County fire department is getting thousands of federal dollars to improve operations and safety.

The Stephenson Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $104,937 grant through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The money comes via the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which offers grants through a competitive process to help fund professional training programs, update equipment and facilities, and provide new supplies to help first-responders handle hazards efficiently and effectively.
