GOP says WI ballot too confusing

wkow.com

MADISON, WI (AP)--   A judge is scheduled to hear arguments over a lawsuit that seeks to force Wisconsin elections officials to redesign a model ballot for the November election.

Republican legislative leaders filed the lawsuit against the state Government Accountability Board in Waukesha County last week. They argue that the model ballot is confusing, gives undue prominence to Democratic candidates and makes it hard to tell which office candidates are seeking.

State attorneys want the case dismissed Wednesday.

They argue Republicans should have filed a complaint with GAB or a petition asking a prosecutor to look into the matter. They also say GOP leaders haven't shown how the ballots have hurt them.

State elections officials further argue if the case is allowed to continue, it can only proceed in four counties.
