ESCANABA, MI-- Delta County has a new sheriff.
The county Sheriff Appointment Board met Monday morning and appointed Ed Oswald to the post. Oswald was with the Delta County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years, serving as undersheriff for ten years. He retired in December of 2013.
Current sheriff Gary Ballweg announced his retirement last month. He’s been with the department for nearly 38 years and spent 11 years of that as sheriff.
Ballweg’s last day is October 18.
