Halloween-themed seat belt enforcement begins

BURTON, Mich. (AP) — Local and state law enforcement officers aren't playing tricks and it won't be much of a treat for motorists caught not wearing a seat belt.
Officials have kicked off a Halloween-themed Click It Or Ticket campaign that runs through Nov. 9.
The Flint Journal says 140 police departments and state police will strictly enforce the law, which carries a $65 fine.
The state police Office of Highway Safety Planning says that seat belt use has dropped in the state from a high of 98 percent to 93 percent.
