Let it snow, let it snow...

MARQUETTE, MI (AP)--   Michiganians are shivering after a pre-winter cold weather system with gale-force winds broke temperature records and dumped up to 1½ feet of snow.

The National Weather Service reports a 49 mile-per-hour wind gust Tuesday in Charlevoix County in the northern Lower Peninsula. It says 1 p.m. temperatures were in the teens to 20s statewide.

The weather service reports record low high temperatures at its office in Negaunee Township. It says Monday's high of 16 broke a record of 17 set in 2005, and Sunday's high of 21 broke the mark of 24 set in 1989.

The weather service reports 18 inches of fresh snow Tuesday in Houghton and Gogebic counties and 15 inches in Charlevoix County.
