MARQUETTE, MI-- Several communities in the U.P. have established let-run orders to prevent water pipes from freezing.
Right now the list includes Iron River, Tilden Township, Forsyth Township, Gwinn, Austin, New Swanzy, Princeton, Ely Township, and Palmer.
Officials say residents should run a stream of water about the width of a pencil in a part of the house that’s farthest away from the city water main.
The orders will remain in effect until further notice.
