ISHPEMING, MI-- Upper Peninsula Power Company is urging customers behind on paying their electric bills to make arrangements to keep the power on.
UPPCO says more than 2,700 customers are four months or more behind on their utility bills. They could face disconnection if they don’t contact UPPCO and arrange payment options.
Officials say the number of customers currently past due is about the same as last year, but the amount they owe is slightly higher. They say those who wait until the end of winter may find it difficult to make arrangements to keep their service on.
Those who are behind on their bills can call UPPCO at 800-562-7680.
Customers may qualify for payment assistance. Information is available by calling 2-1-1.
