Marquette County Community Fund distributes grants

MARQUETTE, MI--   Eleven organizations have received money through the latest round of grants from the Marquette County Community Fund. 

A total of $801,500 dollars will go to groups like the Ishpeming Downtown Development Authority, Marquette Regional History Center, the Friends of Van Riper State Park, and the NMU Speech and Hearing Clinic.

The fund remains open to additional grant applications.  The application deadline for the next review cycle is May 31.

The fund was created in 2012 through a partnership between Cliffs Natural Resources and the Eagle Mine.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
