Parts of Midwest looking through forest fire haze

nbcchicago.com

MARQUETTE, MI--   Massive fires in Canada are affecting some Upper Peninsula views.

Forest fires in central and northern Canada are producing huge amounts of smoke that is drifting as far south as Chicago and producing a thick haze.  Portions of the western and central U.P., including Marquette, Baraga and Iron Counties, are seeing the result.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation says heavy fire and smoke have prompted evacuations in portions of Saskatchewan.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
