Missing U.P. teens found in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, MI--   Two Manistique girls missing since the beginning of June have been found safe downstate. 

Police from Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and Grand Rapids have been on the lookout for Sydney Horvath, 14, and Serenity Hawkins, 14, who were allegedly spotted Monday in Grand Rapids.  The witness said they were in a vehicle with two men.

Horvath and Hawkins were found unharmed in Battle Creek.  They’re in protective custody until they return to Manistique. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
