Firefighters taken by boat to work island blaze

GIBRALTER, Wis. (AP) — Firefighters were shuttled by boat to fight a blaze on an island off Door County.

Officials say a family of four escaped from a burning cabin on Chambers Island about 2 a.m. Thursday.

Gibraltar Fire Chief Caleb Whitney says 40 firefighters from around Door County were taken to the island.

WBAY-TV  says Gibraltar has a station and first responders, but additional firefighters and portable pumps were brought from the mainland.
