LANSING, MI (AP)--   State funds are available to help with removal or repairs of aging dams in Michigan.

The Department of Natural Resources is accepting proposals for funding through its Dam Management Grant Program, now entering its fourth year. Officials say $350,000 will be distributed in 2016.

Local and state agencies, nonprofit groups and individuals can apply.

Six recipients were chosen during the program's first year, when $2.35 million was distributed. Since then, annual funding has totaled $350,000.

Information on applying online is available at www.michigan.gov/dnr-grants. The deadline is Nov. 13.
