ONTONAGON, MI-- Five hikers have been found safe, after they lost their way in the Porcupine Mountains.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Houghton man Saturday around 12:20 a.m. He said his wife, three kids, and another woman left Friday around 9-30 a.m. for a day hike and were overdue.
A search was initiated by the Sheriff’s Office, Porcupine Mountains rangers, Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR, and search and rescue personnel.
Witnesses gave accounts of seeing the hikers, and around 11:15 a.m. Saturday all five were found in good health.
