Lansing Christmas tree again from the U.P.

WAKEFIELD, MI--   The state Christmas tree is on its way from the Western Upper Peninsula to Lansing.

The 66-foot-tall spruce was cut Wednesday from the yard of a Wakefield residence.  Homeowner Florence Daniels and family donated it in honor of U.P. Sports Hall of Fame basketball coach Jim Daniels.

The tree will arrive in Lansing on Halloween.  It will be decorated and is scheduled to be lit on November 20.

Twenty-three of Michigan’s 30 Christmas trees have come from the U.P.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
