Deadline to take part in United Way campaign approaching

MARQUETTE, MI--   Marquette County nonprofit agencies that want to be part of the fall 2016 United Way campaign have until Monday to apply.

Those interested must provide services related to areas of need in the community such as basic needs, youth programs, medical assistance/health care programs, elderly programs, and adults with disabilities.

For an application or more information call 226-8171.

The United Way of Marquette County is also encouraging residents to “check off” for the United Way Fund of Michigan on their tax returns.  Form 4642 allows people to donate all or part of their tax returns to the United Way, which helps needy families with their most basic needs.

Last year the United Way of Marquette County received nearly $500 through tax returns to help local residents.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
