Mackinac Bridge reopens after falling ice stops traffic

detroit.cbslocal.com

ST. IGNACE, MI (AP)--   The Mackinac Bridge has reopened after falling ice forced officials to stop travel between Michigan's two peninsulas.

Ice warmed by the sun was falling Tuesday more than 300 feet from cables and towers, threatening vehicles below. No injuries or damage were reported, and the bridge was reopened hours later.

A similar shutdown took place Saturday that lasted several hours.

Updates are being posted on the bridge's website, mackinacbridge.org/conditions.
