MARQUETTE, MI--   The Marquette West Rotary Foundation has money to give to area groups.

Formed in 1988, the foundation has already given more than $570,000 to local charities through its HarborFest proceeds.  Funds will be granted to agencies and organizations whose activities will directly benefit child and youth, the disabled, and the poor and those in extreme need.

Agencies wishing to apply for money can go to marquettewestrotary.org.  The application deadline is April 30.

This year’s HarborFest will be held August 25-27 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
