U.P. veterans to pay tribute to traveling Vietnam wall

MARQUETTE, MI--   The American Veterans Traveling Tribute Traveling Vietnam Wall will be in Marquette starting Wednesday.

The Marquette County Veterans Alliance is hosting the event to give U.P. veterans and their families an opportunity to visit and pay their respects at the wall, and provide closure to those affected by the war.

The wall will be set up in the Superior Dome’s northeastern parking lot Wednesday through Saturday.  More than 200 motorcycle riders from local groups and law enforcement agencies will escort the wall through Ishpeming and Negaunee into Marquette via Third Street on Wednesday.  Ceremonies honoring Native Americans, women, and all others who were in the war will be held throughout the week.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
