Bikers give money to Marquette veterans' home

MARQUETTE, MI--   The D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans received $5,000 from a group of bikers on Saturday.

WLUC-TV says dozens of members of the local chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association took part in the 3rd annual benefit ride from American Legion Post 349 in Little Lake to Marquette.  They’ve been raising funds throughout the year and presented a $5,000 check to benefit veterans at the home.

The group took a few hours to socialize with Jacobetti residents, then headed back to Little Lake for food and fun.

The CVMA is comprised of members who have served in the military, both combat and non-combat, who are dedicated to helping veterans.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
