Garage lost in Sands Township blaze

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   It took three fire departments to put out a garage fire in Sands Township Monday.

The fire was reported around noon on the 600 block of Miller Road.  The Sands Township, Chocolay

Township, and Forsyth Township Fire Departments responded and found the garage engulfed. 

Officials say the fire was extinguished by 12:45. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from the nearby house, but a car inside the structure was damaged. 

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
