Front Street rehab heading into final stretch

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Front Street streetscape reconstruction project in Marquette is nearing its final phase.

Construction on the eastern side of the 100 block of South Front begins this week.  It includes curb replacement, the addition of street trees, and the removal of brick pavers.  They’ll be replaced with regular and stamped colored concrete.

Traffic patterns downtown have changed to accommodate the project.  No left turn is allowed for northbound traffic on Front onto Washington Street.  The restriction will be in place for the rest of the project, which is expected to be completed in mid-October.

Anyone who purchased a brick in the mid-80s on the eastern side of the 100 block of Front Street can contact the Marquette Downtown Development Authority at 228-9475 or email becky@downtownmarquette.org to get them.  Bricks must be claimed by Friday, October 14.
