Kinross inmate dies

KINCHELOE, MI--   Officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the Kinross Correctional Facility in Kincheloe.

WLUC-TV says Charlie Anderson, 51, was in his bunk Monday when his cell mates notified officers he was having medical issues and needed attention.  Staff administered aid, then called 911.  Anderson was taken to a local hospital, where at some point he died.

The Chippewa County Medical Examiner is trying to determine the cause of death.

Anderson was in Kinross for unarmed robbery and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
