Food for Fines at Peter White Library

MARQUETTE, MI--   Peter White Public Library patrons who owe late fines may now pay them with food.

The library is partnering with the TV6 Canathon to help feed hungry neighbors by serving as a collection point for non-perishable food items through December 7th.

As a donation incentive the library is offering Food for Fines.  It allows patrons to resolve overdue fines or get a free film rental with a donation to the Canathon.  Each item will reduce fines by a dollar or get you a free movie.

In previous years Peter White collected more than 1,600 pounds of food, which was donated to local food banks.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
