Soo Tribe donates thousands as part of "Two for You" program

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians has contributed more than $850,000 to local groups and organizations as part of its fall “2-percent” donations.

Since 1993 the Tribe has donated 2-percent of its slot revenues from its Kewadin Casino properties in the Soo, St. Ignace, Hessel, Manistique, and Christmas.  This fall’s recipients include Lake Superior State University, Sault Area Public Schools, hospice care in Marquette, a food pantry in Munising, and fire and police agencies.

The Tribe’s “Two for You” program spans seven U.P. counties.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
