Marquette house damaged by fire

MARQUETTE, MI--   No injuries are reported, following a house fire over the weekend in Marquette.

Firefighters were called Saturday around 11:50 p.m. to 250 West Ridge Street and saw smoke coming out of the second floor and attic.  Flames in an interior wall were found and extinguished.  The second floor suffered smoke and minor heat damage.

All occupants were able to get out of the building safely.  One was put up at the Ramada Inn using the Pigs-n-Heat fire relief fund.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
