MARQUETTE, MI-- The Michigan Public Service Commission is holding a public meeting at Northern Michigan University Tuesday.
It aims to gather input on the parameters of Integrated Resource Plans—or IRPs—which are required of rate-regulated utilities under the state’s new energy laws. Utilities will use the IRPs to identify and evaluate options for meeting electricity needs.
Officials say the IRPs are expected to increase affordability, improve reliability, and protect the environment.
The hearing takes place from noon to 4 p.m. in the Huron and Erie rooms of the University Center.
