Undated - Five Michigan counties—including one in the U-P—are participating in a roadside drug testing pilot program next week.
In an effort to combat drugged driving, Michigan State Police in Delta and 4-downstate counties will give oral fluid drug tests over the next year. The tests will be administered by ‘drug recognition experts’… police officers who have been trained to identify drivers impaired by drugs. The program begins Wednesday, November 8th.
The pilot counties were chosen based on several criteria… including the number of impaired driving crashes, impaired drivers arrested, and trained drug recognition experts in the county.
