BARAGA, MI-- The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community has released its list of recent gaming distributions.
Since 1993 the Tribe has been making biannual payments from gaming proceeds of its casinos. Two-percent payments are made to units of local governments and 8 percent goes to the State of Michigan.
Among the payments made to Marquette and Baraga County entities, Baraga Area Schools was given nearly $38,000; Bay Ambulance received $15,000; Beacon House got $5,000; and the Superior Watershed Partnership was given more than $15,000.
The payments are made each May and November.
