Boating sites to be shut down for improvements

GOGEBIC COUNTY, MI--   One Michigan and two Wisconsin boating access sites are closing for renovations.

The DNR says the Oman Creek site in Gogebic County will close May 21. Improvements will include

rebuilding the mouth of the creek to pre-2016 flash-flood conditions and implementing erosion control measures.

Saxon Harbor in Iron County, Wisconsin—managed by the county Forestry and Parks department—and Black River Harbor—managed by the U.S. Forest Service—will be closed indefinitely through the summer. Work at Saxon harbor will include rebuilding harbor facilities that were damaged during a monumental 2016 flash-flood event, along with dredging of the entire harbor area.
