Bear sighting in Forsythe Township

Forsythe Township Police are reporting an incident involving a local resident and a bear. Officers say Thursday at about 6pm there was a report of a bear on County Road 465 acting aggressively. It was reported that the bear “came at” and individual. The individual fired a shot in the direction of the animal, but it’s not clear whether or not the shot hit the bear. Forsythe Township Police and the Michigan DNR investigated the incident but were unable to locate the bear. Officials urge the public to report any bear sightings in the area to the DNR.
