Fees covered for UPAWS adoptions this week

NEGAUNEE, MI--   The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is preparing to move into its new digs at the end of the month and wants the public to be aware of a few things.

UPAWS will be closed January 14 through 28 so all materials, animals and operations can be transferred to the new building on County Road 553. No adoptions will be done during that time. The shelter will accept strays and surrendered animals, but you must call or email first to make an appointment, as staffing will fluctuate.

UPAWS was going to offer adoptions for half off through January 13. Now, MI Internet Company of Negaunee is sponsoring the other half of adoption fees through the week, so you can give an animal a forever home for free.

For more information, call UPAWS at 475-6661.
