Marquette County Central Dispatch finds lost snowmobiler through GPS

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette man is in good health, after he got lost while snowmobiling in Sands Township.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched Sunday around 4:40 a.m. to the Sands Plains area. They say Thomas Lohf, 60, was riding when his snowmobile got stuck on the trail. Though he was able to contact his friends by phone, they were unable to find him.

Lohf called 911 and Central Dispatch got a GPS location from his phone. He was about one mile west of Powell Lake in Sands Township.

Deputies reached Lohf and the snowmobile, which couldn’t be extracted at the time. He was taken back to his residence.

Lohf did not require medical attention.
