Missing angler found in Chippewa County

BAY MILLS TOWNSHIP, MI--   The U.S. Coast Guard has located a fisherman reported missing in Chippewa County. 

Michigan State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post were dispatched Monday around 10:50 p.m. to Pendills Creek in Bay Mills Township. Reports indicated the 64-year-old Trout Creek man might have fallen through the ice.

The area where the man was known to fish was searched. Some of his property was found in that location.

The Coast Guard found the man’s body in the water around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The incident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
