Body of missing Menominee teen found in river

MENOMINEE, MI--   Police say they’ve found the body of a missing Menominee girl.

Seventeen-year-old Kristin Hope Gromoske was last seen November 8 leaving her mother’s apartment on 1st Street. Her mother became concerned about Kristin after someone picked her up.

The Menominee Police Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and Marinette City Police searched the Menominee River Tuesday near Stephenson Island. Around 3 p.m. they found Gromoske’s body.

The incident remains under investigation.

Officials say more information will be forthcoming.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
