Large wind turbine parts to be transported in Menominee, Delta counties

MARQUETTE, MI--   Drivers traveling in the southern U.P. can expect some delays beginning Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says a high volume of wind turbine components will be transported to the Garden Peninsula, possibly slowing traffic.

Until the first week of July, 210 loads are expected to travel the following routes:

  • US-41 from Menominee to Hyde
  • Local roads between Hyde and Rapid River
  • US-2 from Rapid River to Garden Corners
  • M-183 from US-2 south to Garden

The moves are planned for Monday through Friday during daylight hours. They won’t take place during inclement weather.
Drivers are urged to be cautious around the loads.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
