Cell phone helps find hunter lost in Marquette County

SKANDIA, MI--   A hunter has been found safe after she got lost in the Skandia area Monday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says around 9:40 a.m. Gina Wilson, 52, of Skandia left her deer blind on Beckman Road to track a wounded deer. She became disoriented and couldn’t find her way back.

Wilson called 911 and Central Dispatch was able to get the coordinates from her cell phone. Marquette County Search and Rescue found Wilson and helped her out of the woods without incident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
