Culvert replacement starts next week in the Keweenaw

HOUGHTON, MI--   The spring road work season begins in Houghton County Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is replacing culverts on M-26 and US-41. About $1 million will go toward replacing one over Umbrella Tree Creek west of Goat Hill Road on M-26. Work also includes asphalt paving, installing a guardrail and pavement markings. The project is expected to be completed in late July.

And MDOT is replacing a culvert on US-41 over Peepsock Creek near Pilgrim Terrace Lane. Work will include asphalt paving, drainage, steel sheet piling, riprap and pavement markings. That $1.7 million project is expected to be wrapped up by mid-July.
