Teen with autism remains missing in Paulding area

Facebook

HAIGHT TOWNSHIP, MI--   Hundreds of people continue to search for an Ontonagon County teen missing since Friday.

Cam Besonen is autistic and nonverbal. His mother, Jill Keeley-Besonen, says he was last seen Friday around 5:45 p.m. at his home in Paulding. He was wearing a blue, long-sleeve shirt and light blue jeans.

Law enforcement, search and rescue personnel and volunteers searched hundreds of acres of rough terrain in Haight Township over the weekend and Monday for Cam. Airplanes, Coast Guard helicopters and drones responded to the region to do an aerial search, but fog and other inclement weather interfered.

Michigan State Police and Ottawa National Forest personnel are also assisting in the effort.

A base for volunteers to gather and sign up to search has been established at the Haight Township Town Hall in Maple Grove.

Anyone who notices anything in their area is asked to call 911.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
