Fire damages Escanaba apartments

ESCANABA, MI--   No injuries were reported in an Escanaba apartment building fire on Saturday.

Public Safety officers were notified at 3:15 a.m. of the fire at 306 South 10th Street. They found smoke coming out of the building. Officials say a resident was alerted by a smoke alarm.

All occupants were able to escape the structure. The entire building sustained fire, smoke, and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
