Escanaba home damaged by fire

ESCANABA, MI--   Authorities were called to another house fire in Escanaba Tuesday.

Around 7:20 a.m. Escanaba Public Safety officers responded to 412 South 12th Street. A neighbor of the residence called to say there was smoke and flames coming from the upstairs window. The neighbor alerted the homeowner, who was unaware of the fire.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames. The upstairs of the house sustained fire, smoke and water damage.

No one was injured during the fire. Its cause remains under investigation. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
