Body found in water where Marquette kayaker went missing in July

MARQUETTE, MI--   A body was found in Lake Superior off the Marquette shoreline Sunday.

It was located around 1:30 p.m. northwest of Partridge Island, where officials have been searching for missing kayaker Brett Harriman. The 40-year-old Marquette resident went into the water and hasn’t been seen since July 21.

Officers from the Marquette Police Department and Marquette County Sheriff’s Office removed the male subject from the water. The body was taken to UPHS-Marquette.

Investigation into the man’s identity continues.

Officials say further details will be released once the decedent is identified.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
