Delta County police chase ends in arrest of 2 people

NAHMA TOWNSHIP, MI— Two people were arrested in Delta County last week, after a man wanted on warrants tried to flee police.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office says Friday around 4 p.m., deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on LL Road in Nahma Township. The driver of the vehicle, Brandon Dickerson, was wanted on several warrants.

Instead of stopping, Dickerson took off. Deputies tried to disable his vehicle with Stop Sticks, but were unsuccessful.

The pursuit continued down US-2, then north on Z Road for about 10 miles. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and a woman and her 5-year-old daughter exited. Police discovered Dickerson had jumped out of the moving vehicle at a corner and the woman had taken over driving.

Dickerson was found a short time later in some woods by a Michigan State Police K9 unit and MSP drone. He was arrested and lodged in the Delta County Jail.

Charges are being sought on the female suspect. Her daughter has been removed from her custody.

Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police, Alger County Sheriff’s Office, US Forest Service Law Enforcement, and Child Protective Services.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
